happy 2nd birthday, baby boy!

Matthew's 2! We've been parents for two years now! It's still so hard to believe all this is true. To celebrate our little tot turning two, we first had a birthday at buddy Connor's place for a Korean BBQ (yum yum! Thanks Auntie Lisa and Uncle Wesley for hosting and cooking!). Then on his actual birthday, Teacher Howard baked Elmo and Cookie Monster themed cupcakes for his school party. We rushed home afterwards to set up for a family get together. Matthew had tons of fun showing off his new room to his aunties and uncles and grandparents. He was also very spoiled by all of them with kisses and presents. Update - Matthew's been sleeping up to 11 hours (as opposed to the 12 hours when he was trapped in a crib!) He hasn't been getting up in the middle of the night to come find us but almost right on the button of the 11th hour mark, we can easily find him at the side of our bed, ready to come up for snuggles and waiting for mommy and daddy to wake up! His naps vary at home from an hour and a half to close to three hours but at school it's still pretty much clockwork for him with 2 hours of shut eye. At school, he's been learning lots and coming home with some things he's learned. His vocabulary is growing everyday; able to form some sentences. Sometimes it's difficult to understand (typical!) but all in all we get most of it. He's been singing ABC and some of it's recognizable. He's been forming friendships at school quite nicely. He's very into playing with Inaya which I'm very, very pleased about as she's a quiet, kind and gentle person to play with. Good influence! He still really enjoys playing with Ethan, a more rambunctious toddler who is much bigger than him in size but only a few months apart (just think dumb and dumber type of relationship!) He's been very fond of Connor lately; I think ever since his birthday celebration with him. Last night we went for Pho noodles with them and Uncle Anthony and Connor and Matthew were playing up a storm! Super cute to see such a positive playing bond. On the other hand, Clayton and Matthew aren't getting along as well as I'd like. I'm sure (or least hope!) they will outgrow it but Clayton loves to torment Matthew while Matthew just wants to play with him! Oh, and Matthew has a new baby cousin named Cole! He's very cute and tiny with such a cute round face. Matthew really likes him and constantly talks about him and how he's sleeping all the time. Matthew is very gentle with him and likes to touch baby Cole's hands and feet. Happy birthday, baby boy! Daddy and Mommy love you more than you'll ever know!
